The Macdonald by Fritz Tiny Homes is a custom 272-square-foot tiny house on wheels designed around one major goal: making full-time travel feel genuinely comfortable.
Built on a 32-foot gooseneck trailer, the home combines a full kitchen, living room, luxurious bathroom, elevated primary bedroom, home office, extensive storage, and even a dedicated gear garage. It is also fully off-grid, giving its owners the flexibility to travel without giving up many of the comforts of a traditional home.
Fritz Tiny Homes has consistently been one of our favorite builders in the tiny-home space, and the Macdonald is a great example of the craftsmanship and thoughtful problem-solving we've come to appreciate in their work.

The main entrance opens into a bright living room centered around a large picture window.
A built-in projector and soundbar turn the window area into an entertainment setup, while the sofa converts into a bunk bed for two overnight guests.
Near the entrance, a front-hall storage closet incorporates shoe storage, drawers, room for a vacuum, and controls for the home's off-grid systems.

The L-shaped kitchen is packed with storage, including drawers behind much of the cabinetry, a custom adjustable pantry, generous counter space, and a Furrion cooktop with vent hood.
A dining table for two incorporates additional drawers, while a movable coffee table can slide into the living area when needed.
The result is a kitchen that feels designed for everyday cooking rather than simply occasional travel.

Despite occupying only about a 5' x 8' footprint, the bathroom fits an impressive amount of function.
Warm wood finishes give it an almost sauna-like feel, complemented by a custom concrete sink and vanity, backlit anti-fog mirror, heated towel rack, ventilation system, and washer/dryer combo.
Storage is incorporated wherever possible, continuing the home's emphasis on keeping everyday belongings organized and out of sight.

Instead of a traditional sleeping loft, the primary bedroom sits above the gooseneck, requiring only a few steps to reach while still providing generous headroom.
The room includes a backlit mountain-inspired headboard, bedside reading lights, large windows, built-in nightstands, deep clothing drawers, and separate hanging closets.
Behind the wardrobe is an additional hidden storage area nicknamed "Narnia," providing space for seasonal clothing and less frequently used belongings.

One of our favorite details is the integrated desk in the bedroom.
The desktop folds up when needed, while a separate drawer system pulls out underneath for office supplies. When the workday is over, everything closes back into the cabinetry, allowing the bedroom to return to a clean, relaxing space.

Beneath the bedroom is what Fritz calls the "gearage"—a dedicated utility and equipment space.
Custom racks hold the owners' e-bikes, while the same compartment houses the solar batteries and inverter, water filtration, combination boiler, and other mechanical systems.
The home also carries approximately 100 gallons each of fresh and grey water, along with autonomous solar power and hydronic in-floor heating.

The Macdonald is a great example of what becomes possible when a tiny home is designed around the specific way its owners actually live.
Instead of simply shrinking a conventional house, every part of this build serves their travel lifestyle—from the more towable gooseneck trailer and off-grid systems to the e-bike garage, hidden seasonal storage, guest bunks, and fold-away office.
And beyond the functionality, the custom millwork, concrete details, warm wood finishes, and thoughtful cabinetry showcase the level of craftsmanship we've come to expect from Fritz Tiny Homes.
For an adventurous couple looking to travel while still having a comfortable place to work, cook, relax, and store their gear, this is an incredibly complete 272-square-foot home.
