The Scandinavian Sierra by Lancaster Cabins might be one of our favorite models we've toured from this Pennsylvania builder. At 400 square feet, it combines a private main-floor bedroom, bunk room, large sleeping loft, full kitchen, bathroom, and covered porch into a surprisingly spacious 12' × 34' footprint.

What immediately separates this model from Lancaster's more traditional cabins is its modern Scandinavian-inspired design. The dark exterior uses Shou Sugi Ban-style charred wood, while an enormous wall of glass across the front brings the surrounding landscape directly into the living space.

The Scandinavian Sierra currently retails for $112,900, with Lancaster Cabins listing a separate $107,900 commercial price for campgrounds and rental properties.

🌲 Covered Porch & Wall of Glass

Before even stepping inside, the covered front porch is one of the Scandinavian Sierra's defining features.

There's plenty of room for outdoor seating and a small table, but the real highlight is the nearly full wall of glass separating the porch from the living room. It brings an incredible amount of natural light inside while giving you a panoramic view of whatever property surrounds the cabin.

Lancaster confirms that the Scandinavian Sierra includes a 10-foot porch as part of its 12' × 34' design.

🛋️ Living Room

Inside, the living room sits directly against that wall of windows.

The model we toured includes a futon that converts into an additional bed, along with an electric fireplace and mounted TV. Even with the relatively compact seating area, the high ceiling and glass façade keep the room from feeling confined.

This would be an especially interesting design to place somewhere with mountain, lake, vineyard, or forest views.

🍳 U-Shaped Kitchen

The kitchen is one of our favorite parts of this floor plan.

A U-shaped layout creates an impressive amount of countertop space while providing bar seating for three. The combination of light wood cabinetry and quartz countertops also fits particularly well with the Scandinavian aesthetic.

The model we toured includes a full-size electric range and oven, over-the-range microwave, refrigerator, large sink, and plenty of upper and lower cabinetry. A large picture window above the sink brings even more natural light into the space. Lancaster lists quartz countertops as an available feature on its modern cabins.

🛌 Bunk Room & Full Bathroom

Just beyond the kitchen is a compact bunk room with sleeping space for two children. It isn't fully enclosed with a door in this particular model, but it creates another dedicated sleeping area without sacrificing the main bedroom or loft.

Directly across the hallway is the full bathroom, equipped with a vanity, traditional flushing toilet, and tiled shower with a sliding glass door.

The shower is slightly smaller than what you'd typically find in a conventional house, but it's still comfortably sized for a 400-square-foot cabin.

🛏️ Private Main-Floor Bedroom

At the rear is a private bedroom with a queen-size bed, nightstands, mounted TV, and several windows.

Storage is incorporated through a bench, hanging area, and large custom drawer. A full-length mirror adds another practical touch without taking up floor space.

Having a true bedroom downstairs is particularly useful if this cabin is used as a vacation rental, allowing adults to avoid climbing into the loft every night.

🪜 Large Sleeping Loft

Upstairs, the Scandinavian Sierra adds significantly more sleeping space.

The model we toured was configured with two full-size beds, making the loft particularly useful for families or groups. Combined with the main bedroom, bunk room, and convertible futon downstairs, there's an impressive amount of sleeping capacity packed into this cabin.

The loft is included as part of the Scandinavian Sierra's standard 400-square-foot design.

✨ Final Thoughts

The Scandinavian Sierra takes a familiar 400-square-foot park model footprint and gives it a much more contemporary personality.

For us, the combination of the huge wall of glass, U-shaped kitchen, private bedroom, bunk room, and large loft is what makes the layout work so well. The 12-foot width also makes a noticeable difference compared with the narrower tiny houses on wheels we're accustomed to touring.

It's easy to picture this model working as a vacation cabin or short-term rental, especially on a property where those oversized windows can take advantage of the surrounding scenery.

And while $112,900 puts it above several of Lancaster's more traditional cabin models, the Scandinavian Sierra includes a noticeably different level of finishes and design.
