Tucked away in a leafy backyard near the botanical gardens in Liège, Belgium, this tiny house isn’t your average Airbnb. Housed inside a restored 19th-century pigeonnier (or dovecote), this 150-square-foot stay offers a whimsical, fairytale-like experience just minutes from the city center. From the outside, it looks like something out of a storybook—complete with a stone tower structure, ivy-covered walls, and a peaceful garden to enjoy breakfast in the sun.
Inside, the charm is more minimalist, with clean finishes, clever design, and all the essentials you’d expect in a modern tiny house—just in a uniquely vertical layout. While we wished some of the exterior’s whimsy carried over into the interior design, the renovation itself was impressive. The functionality and compact organization made the space feel like a creative and cozy nest for a night or two. Watch a full walkthrough video at the end!
Staying in a pigeonnier makes this more than just a tiny house—it’s a piece of Belgian architectural history. Originally used to house pigeons (a symbol of status in past centuries), the tower has been cleverly repurposed into a cozy retreat for solo travelers or couples. From the spiral-like vertical layout to the tiny staircase leading to the shower tucked above, every inch of this space has been reimagined for function and charm.
Though small, the kitchen has what you need for simple meals, including a stovetop, kettle, fridge, and storage. There’s even room to enjoy breakfast outside in the peaceful garden.
What really makes this tiny house shine—besides its unique architecture—is its location. Just a short walk from the train station and minutes from the city’s botanical gardens, the pigeonnier is perfectly placed for exploring Liège on foot or by bike (two are included!). And when you're ready to retreat from the city, the private garden offers a quiet escape just steps from the door.
Whether you’re looking to try tiny living for the first time or just want a unique European stay, this renovated pigeonnier offers a truly magical micro-living experience. It’s a cozy, thoughtfully designed retreat in the heart of Liège—ideal for a short visit, a romantic stopover, or just to spark your imagination.
