Perched high in the rolling Texas Hill Country, La Tour is a one-of-a-kind 387-sqft, two-story tiny house modeled after a French pigeonnier—a charming 17th-century tower style once used as a status symbol in southern France. With its native stone base, cedar accents, and soaring vertical profile, this unique retreat feels like it was plucked from the French countryside and set down among the oaks and cedars of Glen Rose, Texas.
Whether you’re here to unwind in nature, sip coffee on the balcony, or stargaze under the vast Texas sky, La Tour offers an unforgettable escape—complete with peaceful wildlife encounters, cozy interiors, and panoramic views from two private balconies. Watch a full walkthrough video at the end!
Step inside La Tour and you’re welcomed by a bright, airy living space framed by a wall of windows that open to your first balcony. The décor blends rustic charm with quirky modern accents, giving the room a cozy-yet-fresh vibe. While there’s no TV, the space encourages you to unplug—perfect for reading, playing games, or simply enjoying the natural surroundings.
Tucked into one corner of the lower level, the kitchenette is compact but functional, with an induction cooktop, microwave, mini fridge, and reverse osmosis drinking water. Essentials like plates, utensils, pots, and pans are provided, along with thoughtful extras like coffee, tea, and snacks. It’s the ideal setup for preparing simple meals before heading out to explore the local area—or enjoying a romantic dinner on the balcony.
A steep set of stairs leads to the loft-style bedroom, where a plush queen-size memory foam bed awaits. From here, you can step out onto the second balcony for stunning morning views of the Hill Country, coffee in hand. At night, the elevation and remote setting make for incredible stargazing right from your private perch.
The downstairs bathroom is simple and well-appointed, with a shower, toilet, and vanity. Fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap are provided, along with extra pool towels for summer dips in the cowboy pool.
The magic of La Tour truly shines outdoors. Two balconies offer front-row seats to the surrounding oak and cedar trees, grazing horses, and distant rolling hills. On the ground level, a swinging hammock invites lazy afternoons, while the cowboy pool is perfect for cooling off during warm Texas days. Guests can roam 50 acres of private land, follow trails to the seasonal creek, or enjoy visits from the property’s friendly dogs.
With its split-level floor plan and steep stairs, La Tour isn’t ideal for guests seeking a single-level layout or those with mobility issues. But for travelers looking for a unique, peaceful retreat surrounded by nature—with a dash of French countryside charm—it’s a rare gem in the heart of Texas.
